The Wharekura at Te Whānau Tahi caters for Years 9-13. All students participate in a full curriculum, with the following subject areas on offer: Te Reo Rangatira, Pāngarau, Pūtaiao, Hītori, Puoro, Te Reo Pākehā, Whare Tū Tauā, Hāngarau, Ngā Toi, Kapa Haka, and other specialist subjects as requested.
Our Wharekura students regularly represent Waitaha at regional and national competitions, including Manu Kōrero and Kapa Haka. There are many different opportunities for students to participate in extra-curricular activities, both within and beyond our school.
Pastoral care takes place in smaller whānau groups, where we foster the values of Tuakana/Teina, looking after each other. Careers guidance is integrated into our teaching and learning programmes, providing support for all students with career pathways.
Te Wahakura, our student leadership team, supports and enhances student experiences at Te Whānau Tahi through the organisation of school activities, games and events throughout the year.
